Support Local Food Security in Maryland — Donate Through FFARMD!

  FFARMD seeks funding from both private and public donors. Contributions to FFARMD supports helping Marylanders access wholesome locally grown foods. This includes the Maryland Market Money program which matches purchases made using federal nutrition benefits at participating farmers markets, farms stands, and CSAs.

You may also donate directly to MMM and the Bridge Benefit emergency enhancement program through the Maryland Department of Agriculture.  The Bridge Benefit emergency enhancement program was developed in response to the economic impacts associated with the federal government shutdown. 


To make a donation:


  1. Submit a W-9 form and a letter/memo stating that you wish to make a donation to the “Farms and Families Fund at MDA.”

Why donate?

1 in 3 Marylanders are Facing Food Insecurity


  • Among the findings in a recent Maryland Food Bank study is that the percentage of Maryland families reporting food insecurity has quadrupled, rising from 8% in December 2021 to 32% May 2022 - According to the Maryland Food Bank.
  • In Maryland, 543,650 people are facing hunger - and of them 167,020 are children.
  • In Maryland, between 2019 - 2021: Food insecurity in Maryland averaged 8.7%.
  • The poverty rate in Maryland in 2021 (using the Supplemental Poverty Measure) was 9.6%, which was 1.8 percentage points higher than the nation overall (7.8%).
  • SNAP, alone, lifted 99,000 people above the poverty line in Maryland, including 49,000 children, per year between 2013 and 2017, on average.
